Velaa Island

Well, what can’t I laud about Velaa. It is truly one of the most impressive places on earth to visit and I would visit again and again and again!

Velaa Private Island hosts 47 villas of varying sizes and all are gorgeous and impeccably maintained. We’d recommend both the water and beach villas and have found both to be equally impressive.

The food is unbelievable and the island boasts four restaurants with a team of 14 chefs from different countries blending both local and imported ingredients for some amazing dishes. Each restaurant offer something completely different so there’s plenty of variety and everything is to a really high standard.

Activity wise, I’m not sure we’ve stayed anywhere better. Everything we experienced was world class: from diving to tennis and golf to water sports, the equipment was always the very best, the facilities phenomenal and the instructors friendly and informative.

Indeed, it’s really the staff that make Velaa what it is. They are truly brilliant and set a gold standard for luxury resorts everywhere– they’re invested in their guests and go the extra mile every time.

We took the kids with us and while of course staying on a private island would be a memorable experience anyhow, they truly loved it. The whole island is well set up for families and accommodating for all ages, which is something not every high-end resort can manage well. The Kid’s Club is well staffed and even the bartenders chat away to children, which is a great demonstration of the typical Maldivian hospitality to all.

Velaa is highly recommended by us, and I have no doubt we’ll be back. The staff and service are superb, and combined with such beautiful surroundings and a jam-packed activity schedule, it offers a great balance between holiday relaxation and new experiences – there’s something for everyone!
